Emigrants Sailing On Yacht To New Zealand
(Rec. 11 a.m.) A grocer who wants a change from working out ration points, and a former member of the Indian Army who wants a change from the English climate, are leaving the Medway today in a 44-ton yacht to cross the Atlantic en route to New Zealand.
They are Captain William Worsdell and Mr Sydney Brown, who are taking their wives and four other men. The yacht, Pleasant Breeze, is an ocean racer, and won the Bermuda Race.
Only two of the crew are experienced sailors.
Captain Worsdell bought the yacht for £3OOO when he discovered that he and his wife would have to wait 18 months for passages to the Dominion. Mr Brown supplied all the provisions for the voyage. FORMER RACER
