Homeservicemen's Convention Opened
The Northern district branch of the New Zealand Homeservicemen’s Association commenced its annua] convention in Whangarei this afternoon. President of the convention is Mr W. H. Flower.
Southern delegates arrived byspecial bus from Auckland.
This afternoon a welcome was extended by the Mayor (Mr W. Jones) who was supported by the president of the Whangarei branch of the New Zealand Ilomeservicemen’s Association (Mr W, H. Flower) and speakers representative of the Army, the Whangarei branch of the RSA, the 2nd NZEF Association, the South African War Veterans’ Association and the Whangarei District Progressive Society. The business session of the convention commenced at 3 p.m. and will adjourn at 5.45 p.m.
This evening delegates and visitors are to be guests of the Whangarei branch of the association at a dance in the Whangarei Town Hall. The conference continues tomorrow and will conclude on Monday morning.
