The Prime (Mr Fraser) who returned to New Zealand on Saturday afternoon from Australia said the governments of both Australia and New Zealand realised that it was necessary for the future security of the Pacific that the United Kingdam and United States, as well as Australia and New Zealand, should cooperate cn a friendly and reciprocal basis. Mr Fraser was in Australia for four days.

He was accompanied by the Minister of Finance (Mr Nash) who was on the first stage of his journey overseas to represent New Zealand at a series of important conferences.

Mr Fraser and Mr Nash held discussions in Canberra on Friday with Mr Chifley and the Australian Minister of External Affairs (Dr Evatt). The discussions centred around problems, relating particularly to the Pacific, which may be discussed at the Prime Ministers’ conference in London.

After an informal but useful meeting. Mr Fraser returned to New Zealand, while Mr Nash continued his journey to London in a Lancastrian.
