Test Rockets In Centro! Australia

(Rec. 1.0 p.m.) CANBERRA. This Day. A British military and scientific mission will visit Australia shortly to select a site for long-range rocket experiments and to set up testing establishments. Mr Chifley announced that the mission will be commanded by LieutenantGeneral John Fullerton Evetts. assistant Chief of the Imperial General Staff. The possibility of reserving a site in central Australia for testing rockets has been under discussion between the British and Australian Governments for several months. It is believed that a tentative selection has been made.
