Gun Club Shooting

Splendid shooting in me boys' and novices’ events was the feature of the monthly shoot of the Whangarei District Gun Club held at the week-end on the property of Mr H. W. James in Onerahi Road, The finalists in the boys’ trophy competition, D. M. North and Nicholls. were responsible for very fine performances. North won the trophy after a very close shoot-ofl. Another good performer was D. Hudspith, of Ohaeaw’ai, who scored a possible in the double rise event. Others to show excellent form were C. R. Timperley (Kara), L. Ball (Paparoa) and R. Cavanagh (Maungatapere). These three shared the prize-money in the £lO handicap. In the 10-bird handicap. Cavanagh, Ball and J. Timperley shot off for the honours, Cavanagh doing best. d A novelty event, a pairs shoot, was won by McKinlay and Ball, after a final tussle against H. James and J. Malone and Cavanagh and Nicholls. In the second novices’ outing, six possibles were registered.
