Hikurangi Offers Two League Teams
Devotees of Rugby League football met in Hikurangi at the week-end for the purpose of discussing the possibility of resuming activities in the Whanggyei district during the coming winter. The code has not been played locally since 1939, when the Northland Rugby League went into recess on account of the depletion of the ranks of its playing members through service overseas. The meeting revealed that Hikurangi would be able to field a senior and junior team, but it was decided to await the outcome of the meeting of the Northland Rugby League in Whangarei tomorrow night. This gathering will decide the immediate future of the game in Northland.
