Rail Completion Urged
(Special) GISBORNE. This Day. Replying to representations by the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce suggesting that he press for the closing of the Matawai —Taneatua railway gap on the Gisborne—Auckland route, Mr D. W. Coleman. M.P., said that the shortage of surveyors was delaying the beeinning cf the survey of the line. Mr Coleman said that as soon as surveyors could be got, they would be put on. Members of the chamber said there was a growing surplus of unskilled labour which could be used, first on the survey and then on the line of construction.
