Queensland Meat Workers Strike
<2.30 p.rnj BRISBANE, This Day. Six thousand members of the Australian Meat Industry Employees’ Union have been called out on strike throughout Queensland, fund as a result Brisbane will probably be without meat next week. The strike followed failure of a compulsory conference between the Meat Industry Board and union representatives. The strike issue is whether the employers are to continue to have the right to “hire and fire." Brisbane abattoirs, eight bacon factories and eleven meat works are involved.
