• Friday evening saw a packed hall at Otaika, when the Kiwi Social Committee gave its final welcome home dance to returned servicemen. The men welcomed were Flying Officer Dudley Holmes, Driver Rex Steedman and Private Maurice Vylo. Shelfcrd’s orchestra played the dance music. Extras were given by Mrs Len Adams and Miss Patricia Walsh. Mr Charlie Job was M.C. A waltzing competition was won. by Mr and Mrs Kerr. Following supper, which was provided by the committee ladies, Mr H. Pitman made a presentation to each of the guests of honour. .
