Divert Wheat To Germany

i Rec. 2 p.m. i LONDON. March 3. Orders received in mid-Atlantic diverted 10,000 tons of flour from Britain to Hamburg, says the ‘"Daily Mail.”

The- ship carrying the flour called at Plymouth during the week-end before going on to Hamburg and landed passengers who said the diversion orders came as a complete surprise to the captain.

The “Daily Telegraph's” Berlin correspondent says the food situation in the British zone is made more difficult: by the daily pouring in of 5000 refugees from Polish areas under the arrangement to transfer the population.

The Government Food Secretary stated that India needs C. 000.000 tons more grain than the country is likely to produce. The full effect of the food shortage will not be felt until May. but distress is already in evidence in some district"; of Bombay province. Mysore and Madras.
