Laurel And Hardy Become Bullfighters
Stan Laurel as San Sebastian, the great toreador from Barcelona. Stan receiving the warm embraces of admiring senioritas, Stan choosing the bull which he is to fight. Stan suddenly precipitated into the arena. Here, in the Regent's latest attraction, is a new slant for the now not-so-dumb little fellow and his bad influence, Oliver Hardy. “The Bullfighters” finds them taking Mexico City by storm and having a ripping time of it. The egg-break-ing and water-splashing sequences are particularly in character, while several eye-opening Latin dances more than compensate for the lack of romance.
The supporting film, “Within These Walls,” is a powerful drama of American prison life, with Thomas Mitchell. the warden appointed to clean up the State penitentiary, facing personal problems of the greatest magnitude. A gun duel inside the prison provides a tense and unusual climax.
