Much Activity At Kensington Park

There was much activity at Kensington Park* this morning, when good times were registered, despite the slightly soft going. Sea Fife was speeded up over four furlongs, which he covered in 52 4-55., the last two in 265.

Bonnie Grey was anxious to get her head, but she was kept at half-pace over a round. She is particularly fit and is expected to race prominently on Saturday.

Home James and Miss Kotere went freely over a round, Miss Kotere speeding up oyer the last quartermile to return 26 l-5s for the final stage. *

Transfix gained many fresh admirers by his showing this morning. He was not unduly > bustled to register 52 l-ss. for the last four furlongs of a circuit. He is expected to improve on his fourth placing last Saturday. Saladam was under a strong hold throughout a circuit, as Was Odvaals, the pair looking particularly well. Old Scot and Pedro were also restrained, but Diavil was speeded up over the last three furlongs, which he covered in 40 l-ss.

Abbey Fox went freely over a round, and could have done better than the 26 2-ss. she returned for the last two furlongs of a circuit. Although Abbey Fox ran a disappointing race in the Whangarei Cup, she is expected to make amends in the Park Handicap next Saturday, when the smaller field and shorter distance may be more to her liking. Entertainer went twice round the course at a fair pace, proving that the distance of the Poroti Hurdles will not worry him. Killymoon went steadily to the fourfurlong' post and then raced for home. He was not bustled to return 51 2-ss. for the last half-mile. Ferdition went freely over a round, covering the last half-mile in 525. Shortbread and Bronze Man were not allowed to go fast, but trainer S. G. Lindsay has both these geldings in first-class order.

King’s Ace and Electron were given easy work, as also were Miss Julienne and Hayduk. Beau Volo impressed over a round at medium pace. This gelding is expected to avenge the narrow defeat he suffered last Saturday when he just failed to catch Commissar in the Hikurangi Handicap.
