New Zealanders In Unrra Make Name For Themselves
(Spec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 31. A report received here from Germany indicates that a small party of New Zealanders who arrived in August to lake up positions with Unrra in its displaced persons operations, have already made a name for themselves.
Mr C. N. Rabone has been appointed officer-in-charge of supplies and transport for operations in Germany. After having command for a few weeks of the Unrra team caring for 1550 displaced persons at Fcrcheim, in Bavaria, Mr Rabone was ordered to go to Frankfurt on October 16 to establish a department to control all supplies of food, clothing, equipment and transport vehicles for Germany. His new territory embraces the French, British and American zones.
Mr G. E. Hartnell and Mr C. J. Williams have been assigned to Unrra teams in different; parts of Germany. During the teaming-up process they also met six New Zealand nurses who joined Unra recently. All the New Zealanders seem particularly' happy and contented now that they are engaged in the actual work they went to Germany to do.
