Guilty On One Count
(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. The trial of Maxwell Stuart Walker, aged 41, a former solicitor (Mr. W. W. King), on three charges ot failing to account for trust moneys amounting to £416/5/3 from two deceased estates and three counts of theft of that sum, was concluded before Mr. Justice Callan and a fury yesterday. The charges were that between December 7. 1938. and August 31, 1943, accused failed to account for £382/9/9 from the estate of Marion St. George to the administratrix, Matilda Miriam Mokotu Durrant Jago; that on August 23, 1943, he failed to account for £25/10/- from the estates of Marion and George Olestine St. George; that on August 28. 1943, he failto account for £B/5/6 from the two estates; and three counts of theft of these sums. • After more than an hour s retirement, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on the first count of failing to account and not guilty on the other five charges.
