Personal

Mr J. R. Mcllriath has been appointed secretary of the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce, in succession to Mr W. T. Surman, who has resigned after 15 years of service in that position.

Sympathy with the family of the late Mr Rodney Coates was expressed at an informal meeting of the Armed Forces Appeal Board sitting in Whangarei yesterday when board members, both past and present, with members of the staff met at a farewell gathering. This expression of sympathy, which will be conveyed to Mrs Coates, was passed with all standing in silence.
