1948 Olympic Games

(Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 24. A postal vole will decide the venue of the 1948 Olympic Games. This was officially slated after a meeting of lhe execuI iv'e of the International Olympic Committee, at. which invitations to stage the Games were considered from London, Lausanne, Los Angeles. Minneapolis. Philadelphia and Baltimore. How soon n decision can be readied on the venue of the 1948 Games is not indicated. but it may be two or three months before the result of the postal vote is known. Britain who. but for the war, would have staged the games in 1944, has a strong claim for the next, series. They only once, in 1908. were held in Britain. The Olympic executive* stated that invitations to the Games will be sent to all countries having National Olympic Associations which are accepted within the comity of Nations.
