Suicide Crews Give Up

NEW YORK, August 24. Fourteen officers and 225 men, who manned Japanese suicide torpedoboats until the Allies destroyed all but three, were the first group on the Ryukyus to surrender; reports the Okinawa correspondent of the Associated Press. The surrender was made on Aka Island, in the Kerama Group. A garrison of 25 officers and 250 men is due to surrender on nearby Tokashiiki Island.
