To Validate Election

(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 24 The House of Commons Select Committee recommended the election of Mr John Forman and Mrs Jean Mann, both of Glasgow, for Springburn and Coatbridge respectively. The recent ballot should be invalid on the ground that at the' time, both held offices under the Crown. The committee reported it was satisfied that they had incurred disqualification inadvertently, and recommended legislation to relieve them of the pecuniary penalties, and also validate their election;

Mr Forman and Mrs Mann were members of the Government Housing Committee at Glasgow' and received a fee for each sitting of the committee.
