Conductor Shot Dead
(Rec. 11.25 a.m.) . BERLIN, Aug. 24 Leo. Borchard, conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, was shot dead shortly before midnight last night when 1 his ear failed to heed an American outpost’s command to halt. Three soldiers shouted and waved flashlights .when the car sped past. Two soldiers fired and one bullet struck Borchard in the head. Another man and woman were injured.
