Founded *by Mr F. E. Close on 300 buyers, many from south of * Auckland, eagerly sought the choice cattle, nine females of which were in the Lifetime Merit Register with records extending up to 40091bs fat. The herd had been tested under ordinary conditions on grass alone and the cattle were never covered or pampered in any way. Auctioneers in conjunction were Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and North Auckland Farmers’ Co-op-Ltd. ■ The sale average was 35gns, sectional averages being: Two herd sires, 114gns; four 2-year bulls, 55gns; four 1-year bulls, 50gns; 76 cows, 35gns; 18 2-year heifers, 33£gns; 28 rising yearling heifers, 29gns.
