Davao City Captured

WASHINGTON, May G Davao, the last remaining major city in the Philippines, has been liberated following a powerful drive by the 24th Division of over 140 miles in 17 days, says General Mac Arthur’s communique. Sharp fighting eliminated scattered enemy forces within the city, and our holdwas expanded to a depth ot: two miles inland and north of Mintal, and two miles north-west of Libby airfield, which was seized after a hard fight.
