Russian Prisoners In American Camps
(Rec. 12.25 p.m.) LONDON. May 6 On the same day that the presence of Russian citizens in American prisoner of war camps in Britain was made known to the American Ambassador and Brigadier-General E. F. Koenig, commandering officer of the United Kingdom base, the. Russians were relieved of their prisoner of war status and afforded the same privileges as liberated American prisoners of war.
The Russian Ambassador and MajorGeneral Ratoff, Russian official in charge of repatriation, were notified through diplomatic and military channels, and facilities were given Russian officers on the repatriation commission to visit the camps. Of 1720 Russian' citizens who have been under American, army jurisdiction in Britain, all but 110 have been turned over to Russian authorities. The others are patients in an army hospital.
Pipeline.—Oil and petrol are now being pumped to China through the world’s longest pipeline, the last 400-mile link of which has been completed. Much traffic formerly sent by road and by air can now be devoted to other supplies.
