Whangarei Maori Tribal Executive
At a representative meeting of delegates from the various Maori tribal committees in the Whangarei district, a district executve was elected, the personnel being: Messrs. L. Davis, O. Pitman (Whakapara), P. Reihana, H. Peter (Whangaruru), S. Pugh, S. Wateford (Whananaki), W. Williams, M. Tito (Whangarei), H. Kepa, M. Pirihi (Takahiwai), H. Hotere, Pei Hopa (Pipiwai), M. Wellington and Lieutenant Wellington (Ngunguru). Mr. L. Davis was elected chairman and Mr. P. Reihana, secretary. Also present at the meting were Mr. L. Kiley, of the National Service Department and Maori officers of the department. In an address to the meeting Mr. Killey, spoke of the work of the National Service Department and the assistance that was given officers of his department by the various tribal committees and the district executives in Northland. He said that this assistance was of great help. He especially mentioned the chairman (Mr. L. Davis) who had devoted so much time to the welfare of the Maori people.
