Fascist Chief Escapes From Gaol Hospital
(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) ROME. March 5. General Roatta, formerly head of the Italian Fascist Army Intelligence Service, who is the most prominent of several men at present accused of collaboration with the enemy .escaped last night from a prison in Rome, according to an agency ‘message. Roatta was in the gaol hospital when he escaped shortly after a visit from the Wife of a medical officer at the hospital, and all Ro3tta’s guard have been arrested. The Government has offered a 1,000.000. lire reward for evidence leading to Roatta’s recapture. The High Court was convened this morning to continue Roatta's trial. The president said it would proceed 2S though Roatta was present.
