Death Of Gen. Chauvel
(Rec. 2 p.m.) MELBOURNE. This Day. The death is announced of General Sir Harry Chauvel. after a long illness. General Chauvel commanded the Ist Australian Light Horse Brigade in 1914-15, the Ist Australian Division at Gallipoli in 1915. the Anzae Mounted Division in the Sinai campaign in * 1916-17, the Desert Column in 1917. and the Desert Mounted Corps in 1917-19. He was bom in Now South Wales in 1865. General Chauvel was honorary colonel of the 9th (North Auckland) Mounted Rifles.
