Whau Vailey Flower Show

There was a good display of sweet peas and other flowers at the annual flower show held by the Whau Valley School cn Thursday. In spite of adverse climatic conditions during the last few weeks (he entries were of high quality and surprisingly large in number, especially in the sweet pea section, which is the main feature of the display, held in connection with the school’s sweet pea club. The judges, Mesdames Simons and Willcocks, were faced with no easy task when'called upon to select the best from entries which filled the entire length of the corridor of the main school, and had frequently to make equal awards. At the conclusion of the judging the display was viewed by a large number of parents and friends. Award List The judges’ awards were: — Class 1: Three varieties of sweet pea.— Theresa Skctchley 1\ lan Wrack 2, Trevor Alderton and Eric Wrack 3. Jeanette Dempster and Olive Sketchley h.c.
