Complete Agreement in Dairy Workers’ Dispute
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day.! “I am pleased to announce that in i general terms, complete agreement | has been reached by the Conciliation! Council dealing with this dispute," j said the Minister for Labour (Hon. P. j C. Webb) today, referring to the j dairy workers’ dispute. “The agreement has yet to be drawn ' up in a form which can be presented | to the court for making into an award j and a committee of assessors to whom this work has been delegated will meet on Tuesday morning to do the necessary drafting. The matter will then require to be submitted to the Arbitration Court with- whom jurisdiction finally . rests. The court will sit to make fixtures in Wellington on Wednesday when a joint application will be made by the parties for an early hearing. It is- hoped that finality will be reached without undue delay. “I should like to express my admiration of the sense of responsibility shown by both sides in these important negotiations and hope that, as a result, there will be complete restoration of the good feeling which has been a feature of the relationship between employee and employer in this industry.’’
