Two Inquests At Kaikohe

KAIKOHE, This Day
Opened on September 24 at Otaha, a pretty little bay between Whangaroa Heads and Takou Bay, the inquest into the death of John Stuart Hyslop, of Hawke’s Bay. was concluded in Kaikohe yesterday before the Kaikohe coroner (Mr A. J. Martin). The verdict was to the effect that deceased was droAvned. No evidence was forthcoming to show how he came to be in the water. The body was found folloAving a search when Mr Hyslop failed to return after having expressed an intention of fishing alone in Otalia Bay. A verdict of death from broncho-pneu-monia in accordance with the medical evidence submitted by Dr E. A. .Morris, of KaAvakawa, Avas returned by Mr Martin yesterday in an inquest hold on Victoria Kitty Hutchins, a half-caste Maori child, aged nine months. Evidence that the child had been ill at its home in Oromahoe, near Pakaraka, was given by the mother.
