Gangsterism Is Coming

SYDNEY, This Day.

A motion seeking to censure the New South Wales Government for its attitude in the recent newspaper dispute and for its general policy in regard to strikes, was ■defeated by 44 votes to 16. An amendment was moved by the Premier (Mr MeKell), declaring faith in the arbitration system and deploring any attempt to break down the legal machinery for settling industrial disputes, was carried.

Opposition speakers charged the State Government with cowardice after the Premier had been granted leave to move his amendment. The former premier (Mr Mair) said that if the Government did nothing to stem industrial anarchy there would be bloodshed and revolution.

“Gangsterism is coming here," he declared, "You can feel the'atmosphere.”
