Future Tourist Traffic

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. In the House of Representatives last night, speaking to the vote of £880,059 for the Department of Industries and Commerce (Tourist and Publicity Division), Mr F. W. Doidge (Oppn., Tauranga) suggested that air travel would bring many more tourists in future, and urged the need to make ready for this increase in traffic. He suggested the setting up of tourist and trade offices in countries overseas.

The Hon. W. E. Parry saidi the matter of developing tourist traffic after the war was now in the hands of a vei-y representative committee which had been given the task of drawing up a five-year plan of work with an indication of priorities. He was confident the committee would product a plan satisfactory to the House. Hotel accommodation was one vital need. The vote passed.
