To Frame Cigar Butt

(.Spec.) LONDON, Oct. 2. While standing near the House of Commons recently. Ordinary-Seaman J. D. Freeman, of Wellington, saw Mr. Churchill drive past in his car towards the entrance of the House. Freeman gave the “V” sign and Mr. Churchill, seeing him. waved a cheery answer with his cigar. To his astonishment, a detective came to Freeman shortly afterwards and presented him with the cigar butt which the Prime Minister had been smoking only a few minutes previously. Mr. Churchill had instructed the detective to give it to the New Zealander who had waved the “V’’ sign. Freeman was delighted and declared that he was going to “frame - ’ the butt.
