Nearly £3OOO From Okaihau Bond Concert

(Special) OKAIHAU, This Day A. sum approaching £3OOO was raised for the Victory Loan in a gala concert held in tHo Commerce Hall. Okaihau, on Friday evening, when entertainment, jollification, and bond-selling were mingled as never before.

The chairman of the Okaihau War Savings Committee (Mr. A. A. Anderson) was in the chair, and the master of ceremonies {Mr. G. N. Blundell), of Waihou Valley, was on his feet. Something like 000 people packed the hall, and another 100 performers, adults and children, were squeezed in somehow. Not the least attraction was the final canvassing’ for and drawing of a £l5O Victory Bond raffle. First prize of £IOO went to Mrs. D. Laslet.i. of Okaihau: second prize of £2C went to Mr. W. Land, of Rangitthua; third prize of £lO. went to Mr. 11. Blundell, of Iloroke; while Mr. Land also collected two of the £1 bonds. Both he and Mrs. Laslett have had phenomenal luck of late.
