King Buys At Newmarket

(Rec. 2 p.m.) LONDON. September 13. His Majesty the King paid 4100 guinea* for a bay filly by the Aga Khan’.-' Turkhan from the French mare Terre Rose, at the Newmarket sales. It was the third highest price paid during the day. A total of 92,170 guineas was paid for 123 lots sold. The average price of 74:! guineas for the yearlings sold is a war time record. The highest price of the day was SSOO guineas for a filly by Solario from Silver Fox 11. The Aga Khan, six ol whose yearlings sold for 10,920 guineas, paid 4000 guineas for a filly by Mieuxoe from Dulce 11.

The racing correspondent of the "Daily Express’ says that the filly for which 5800 guineas was paid, was the tiniest in the sale, standing 14.3 hands. Experts marvelled at the price.
