Roosevelt, Churchill To Meet In Paris?
NEW YORK, August 20. Mr Roosevelt intends meeting Mr Churchill in London or Paris, perhaps both, sometime before the American elections in November, says the Washington correspondent of the “New York Times.” The President will be accompanied by his wife, indicating the possibility of a large-scale conference involving social formalities. Exact details of the journey are tentative, but Mr Roosevelt recently told intimate friends that he was planning a visit to the liberated area of Europe. While House Denial The White House Secretary (Mr. Stephen Early) denied a report of the New York “Times” that President Roosevelt plans to go to London or Paris or both this autumn. President Roosevelt announced that he is sending Mr. Donald Nelson and MajorGeneral Patrick Hurley on a mission to China to discuss supply, military and economic problems with Marshal Chiang Kaishek. They will depart shortly and wilt be in China for several months. ‘
Mr. Charles Wilson will act as chairman of the War Production Board during Mr. Nelson’s absence.
