Air Force Relations
During the past year, members of the Air Force Relations in Northland knitted, and sent forward, no less than 25C8 garments. This information was given at the annual meeting held in Whangarei on Friday. These garments comprised 744 scarves, 777 pairs of mittens. 210 balaclavas, 322 sleeveless pullovers, 144 longsleeved pullovers, 216 flying jerseys, 70 helmets. 26 pairs of gloves, five pairs ol socks, and 48 pairs of sock mittens. 1372 Lbs, of Wool Knitted The president. Mrs. Jones, Mayoress of Whangarei. in her report, spoke of the splendid effort of the women of Northland in achieving this fine total of knitted garments, and in this the women were assisted by young knitters from various schools. To date 1372 lbs. of wool for knitting has been distributed, and there are 62 knitting groups as well as 224 individual knitters. Appreciation of the action of the Y.W. C.A. in placing a room at the disposal of the organisation for the distribution of wool, was expressed by. Mrs. Jones, who also extended thanks to Miss Aldridge, secretary of the Y.W.C.A. and her assistant, Miss Kessell, for their assistance. Officers Elected Officers elected were: President, Mrs. W. I Jones (re-elected); vice-president, Mrs. S. Ward (re-elected); secretary, Mrs. R. G. Mardon-' (re-elected); wool depot supervisor, Mrs. J. W. Atkinson (re-elected); committee, Mesdames Ross, Lindesay. Parkes. Parkin, G.Brown, Sutherland, Inkster, McKenzie. Day, Watters, McCabe, MeMeakin and Miss Aldridge.
