I notice that your old correspondent. “A Farmer'Again,” is at it again

with his old, old story. Surely this

POSITION OF FARMERS

is evidence that Mr Runciman has got on to something new and upset him, so he

dishes up his old rubbish again. He seems to be following the line cf other propagandists—when he gets into trouble he goes off at a tangent on another line and says that his little crowd is doing very well and the other fellow is much worse.than he really is. As regards decreasing the price of butterfat to increase quantity: is that not exactly what is happening now? The purchasing power of lib butterfat is about on a par with the eight pence or nine pence of a few years age. Take a good look around; remembering that a farmer should expect as good a standard cf living as any other person. Some things have remained about the same, but very, very few; some have increased by half, many have* doubled and not a few cost three times their former price. Add to this Mr Runciman's taxation figures and what have you left? What can be put aside for old age f - a holiday, etc.? The willing horse may jib soon when he sees the ethers in the team taking a rest because the bus won’t run or the bath water is not hot enough. In conclusion, may I ask why is it that there are farmers who always seem ready to run their fellow farmers down over a mess of pottage? Because they are only running themselves down. too. The farmers, and those most marvellous women, their wives, are doing a grand job. So “A Farmer Again’’ get to it. Be a he_lp and not a hindrance. "YOUNG FARMER.”
