Cricket Dinner In Germany A cricket dinner in Stalag 383 Germany is described by Sergeant A. D. Cook, A.1.F.. writing to a former colleague on the staff of the ‘’Northern Advocate/’ “What a success it was,” says Sergt. Cook. "All the nationalities about the place were represented and yet the spirit was marvellous. The two hours spent were certainly two hours back home; every one present was completely lifted out of himself.” Recurrence of a knee injury will necessitate Sergt. Cook taking his sport as an umpire during the coming season. Fred Philpott,' Jim Harrison, lan Boyd, Harry Tebbutt and Terry McKoy, all Whangarei boys at the same camp were fit, although Sergt. Philpott, writing home later in March, was in hospital with bronchitis. The P.O.W. were enduring a cheerless winter and a ’An epidemic at the time Sergt. Cook’s letter was despatched, but he described the camp as the best, in Germany.
