Shot with Pearifle While handling a loaded .22 rifle, a 15-year-old youth, Brian Colin Rimmer, of Whangarei, accidentally shot himself in the left foot. The accident happened on Saturday, the bullet piercing the foot, and the youth was admitted to the Whangarei hospital, his condition being satisfactory.
Whangarei County Nominations Although nominations of candidates for the Whangarei County Council, Whangarei Hospital Board, Whangarei Hospital Board and North Auckland Elec.tric-power Board will not be called until Wednesday, two nominations have been received by the returning officer (Mr G. H. Lloyd). Mr James Scott Davidson has been nominated for the Manaia Riding, for which the sitting member (Mr A. Clarke) is not again standing, while Mr Herbert Elvin Hewlett has been nominated for the Waipu Riding, for which the sitting member (Mr J. H. Garland) is not a candidate. No nominations for hospital board, harbour beard and power board have yet been received, but it is expected that the calling of nominations on Wdnesday will bring many before closing day on May 15.
