Cargo Left On Wharf

(P.A). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day Two hundred and seventy tons of cargo due for discharge at Lyttelton remained in the holds of the steamer express Rangatira. when she sailed for Wellington on Saturday night, because seven gangs of Lyttelton watersiders refused to work the ship unless a ship’s officer was stationed at each hatch to watch discharging and loading. No cargo for the north was picked up and passengers’ luggage was handled by the Union Steamship Company. ■An official of the shipping company said that as much of the cargo was perishable, it might not be fit for return to Lyttelton on the Rangatira’s next trip.
