Crash.—Three civilians were hurried to death and five of the reported eight members of the crew were killed when an army bomber crashed on a house at Memphis. Tennessee. The house was destroyed when the petrol tank exploded and two neighbouring houses were badly damaged by fire. Nineteen were killed and four injured when a navy transport, plane crashed at Flagstaff. Arizona. Bolivia.—A brief despatch to the Associated Press from La Paz reports that a revolutionary attempt in Bolivia has been frustrated. Martial law has been declared.
Promise.—The Economic Minister (Dr, Ley), in a speech at Berlin, said: “Even if there are no houses left, even if we had to produce our goods in the open air, we will never capitulate.” Birth.—Princess Ingrid of Denmark has given birth to a daughter. Both are well.
