Details Of Attack On Convoy Off Norway
(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 30 Details have been received of the successful attack and damage by naval aircraft on a German convoy off Bodo, northern Norway, on April 26, states an Admiralty communique. The convoy, which was south bound, consisted of four med-ium-sized supply ships, accompanied by five escort craft. It was snowing hard at the time of the attack, but all four supply vessels and one escorting craft were hit with bombs. It was not possible to see the full extent of the damage, but three supply vessels were left on fire, the largest having run aground. While the attack was taking place other naval aircraft penetrated Bodo harbour, where one large supply ship was bombed and set on fire amidships. Five naval aircraft were lost during these operations.
