(8.0. W.) RUGBY, April 28. The expulsion of the Germans from Italy is the foremost task of the new Italian Government whose declaration was issued today. It puts aside problems recognised as important, but not problems of the moment. The first of these is a constitutional problem. It is the intention. however, to create a small consultative assembly as a symbol of Parliament to which the Government will give an account from time to time.
The chief task is the liberation of Italian territory invaded by a foregn element to which is allied the remnants L.J. C O IUIC WUkil v.-P* pressed the country and led it to ruin. Hie Government’s purpose is to increase the number of men fighting on the side of the Allies and assist in the efforts of the heroic patriots who, whatever their party, are united to liberate Italy and overthrow Hitler and Germany. The declaration refers to removal of Fascism, but adds that the Government is not animated by a spirit of vengeance. It aims at reforming industry;, encouraging agriculture and effectively fighting speculation. Cabinet decided to vote 20,000 lire for urgent reconstruction.
