Maungakaramea

The Anzac service was held in the hall, when the Rev. G. Brown, of Whangarei, gave a very impressive sermon to a large audience. After the service, returned soldiers led the parade to the cenotaph, where wreaths were laid on behalf of the following:—Returned Soldiers, Women’s War Emergency Corps. Ladies’ Gardening Circle, “V” Branch, the school pupils. During the heavy rains on Tuesday' the district was visited by an electric cyclone, striking a shed and carrying the roof complete over a distance of weil over 100 feet; also a heavy iron axle was lifted and carried a long distance. Truck and car were undamaged. This hanuened on the farm of Mr. A. Peers Adams. Telephone and electrical connections were also severely damaged.
