Auckland R.S.A. Plans
(Special) AUCKLAND. This Day Speaking to the report at the annual meeting of the Auckland Returned Services’ Association, the president (Mr. A. P. Postlevvaite), said lie hoped to see the association establish a choir, an employment bureau, and a service by which free legal advice could be given. Among the many remits to the Dominion Council meeting which were passed, was one urging that the interest rate of 4 1/8 per cent, on house and farm loans to returned men be reduced to l>/ 4 per cent. It was contended by the speaker that, as the State obtained the money from the Reserve Bank at 11T per cent, for housing, it should be possible to lend to returned men at the same rate, even if the Government did show some loss. It was also argued that such a low rate of interest would be of great assistance to rehabilitation.
