Pitiful Stream Of Homeless People Grows

i Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. Although 50 per- cent of State rental houses being built are allocated to returned servicemen under the Rehabilitation Act, the supply is hopelessly inadequate. During March, the State Advances Corporation in Auckland was able to allocate only 41 houses to returned servicemen. At the end of March there were still 884 unsatisfied applications from men with overseas service.

Rehabilitation, authorities and organisations interested in the welfare of returned men are doing their best, but the pitiful stream of homeless has grown to such proportions that it has become New Zealand's most urgent rehabilitation problem.
