Double Feature Bill At Regent Theatre
Few people have not heard of voo-doo, a primitive religion allied to the black arts of witchcraft, and the belief that the dead can walk, and this background has been taken as the basis for “I Walked With a Zombie,” one of the two feature films on the new programme at the Rebent. A “zombie,” according to the natives of the West Indies, is a person who lias died and then been restored, through witchcraft, to a sleep-walker-like existence. A nurse, Frances Dee, goes to a remote island in the West Indies to care for a mysterious patient, a woman, who walks anod breathes, but cannot speak or think. . How she discovers that her patient is a “zombie,” and her adventures in the voo-doo temple make an excellent horror film. The second feature. “She Has What It Takes,” is a bright musical comedy, starring Jinx Falkenberg, a small-time stage artist whose impersonation of a famous star’s daughter leads to amusing situations.
