Some Advances Made On North Banna Front
(Received 1 p.m.) (E.0.W.) RUGBY. April 2G. Our advance on the Ukhrul Road continues, states a Burma communiauc. Li North Burma Chinese troops have made limited gains in face of stubborn Japanese resistance. Chinese infantry captured a hill north-west of Inkangahtaung. In three days recent fighting west of the Mogaung River, the Chinese killed more than 2000 Japanese. The advance to, Marong continues. Levies also continue to advance towards Tiangzup. An Arakan battalion of the Frontier Rifles has inflicted very heavy casualties co the Japanese during moppingup operations in the Buthidaung area. In daylight on Monday, medium bombers destroyed two road bridges and damaged another and caused numerous fires in the Pyingaing area. Other fighters and fighter-bombers ranged over Burma on Sno day. Monday and Tuesday, destroying enemy supplies and installations. Two Allied aircraft are missing from these operations.
