N.Z. Learnt First

(Rec. 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, April 25

Mr C. R. Attlee in the House of Commons told Mr Bcllenger that Mr Churchill’s attention had been called to publication of a dispatch to the New Zealand Government from General Frey berg on operations in Cassino and added that the British Government had received a dispatch from the British G.O.C.

Mr Bellenger: “Is it not incongruous that a subordinate commander should send a dispatch to his own Government, part of which has been published, yet the Supreme Commander has net sent a despatch?” Mr Attlee: “The point is that an officer commanding troops of any Dominion has a right to report to his Government but the question of dispatches published here is another matter."
