Anzac Day In The Middle North Area
(Special) KAIKOHE, This Day. Throughout the Middle North, Anzac Day, 1944, was fervently observed. In most districts church services were held with excellent attendances, although wet, cold weather dispelled all hope of parades. Services were conducted as under:—
Kaikohe, by the Rev. F. W. Marshall in the Regent Theatre (afternoon); Kawakawa, by the Rev. W. H. Beech in the King’s Theatre; Okaihau, bv the Rev F. W. Marshall (morning); Kferikeri, by the Rev. H. J. Steele; Waimate North, by the Rev. R. Robertson. Reunions, taking the form of social evenings, were held in Kaikohe and Kawakawa in the evening (full reports published later). Following the afternoon service at Kaikohe. the branch held its annual general meeting.
