Successful Mission Re Nurses’ Horae

“Whangarei nurses’ home problems, over which there has been a certain amount of disagreement between the board and departmental officers, were the subject of a long, frank and friendly discussion, as a result of which, complete agreement on all points was arrived at,” stated the chairman of the Whangarei Hospital Board (Mr J. A. S, Mac Kay) in an interview with a representative of the “Northern Advocate,” while referring to decisions made on his visit to Wellington on hospital board business last week. His trip had been pleasant, and, he thought, successful, he said.

Departmental officers taking part in the discussions, were Director-Gen-eral of Health (Dr. M. H. Watt), and Dr. director and inspector of hospitals, and the departmental architect (Mr Laurenson). The decisions arrived at would be placed before the hospital board at a special meeting on Friday next. Should the bogrd approve of what had been agreed upon, it was hoped that this argent work would proceed as soon as the necessary finance could be arranged, Mr Mac Kay said. The Minister for Health (Hon. A. 11. Nordmeyer), the director-general cf health and the under-secretary of the department (Mr von Heisenberg) would visit Whangarei and attend' the special meeting of the board on Friday for the purpose Of discussing matters of importance and interest to; ail hospital boards in the Northland - afea.
